?????? Dear Head teacher I am writing to introduce myself: my name is Hideo Kato and I am a research student at University of Surrey. I have currently been doing research on the peer support programme in Japanese schools. I am, therefore, writing to enquire whether ???????????? junior high school might be interested in participating in this programme of research. The research programme provides pupils (peer supporters) with the opportunity to express a range of topics including: their perspectives on peer support at school, and their experiences of being a peer supporter. In addition, the research includes the opportunity for both pupils and a researcher (Hideo Kato) to actively participate in the research process and provides them to do the peer-led activities partially together, which create rapport between peer supporters and a researcher (Hideo Kato). I am happy to work collaboratively with yourself, your school staff, peer supporters and other pupils in the school, in order to enable the research to be integrated into existing peer support programme and the related activities. Dear Parents/Guardians I am sending you this parental consent form to both inform you and to request permission for your child to attend my PhD research project; Peer support programme in Japanese schools. My name is Hideo Kato. I am a research student at University of Surrey. I have currently been doing research on the peer support programme in Japanese schools. I have recently gained the opportunity to conduct the research activities in ????????????? junior high school where has organised peer support programmes. The research includes the opportunity for both pupils and the researcher (Hideo Kato) to actively participate in the research process and provides pupils opportunity to express their views on peer support activities and their experiences of being a peer supporter by interview. I will work collaboratively with school staff and peer supporters to join the peer support activities. I and school staff will also ensure that pupils understand the nature of the research and will give them the opportunity to ask me any questions that arise. It is planned that as an introduction session (or assembly) to the research, the pupils will have the opportunity to ask me about my work and the nature of the study before the interview. The data collection will be treated with complete confidentiality. No individual pupils will be identifiable by the information that they provide. A report of the results will be presented to the school in the end of 2014 and I hope that this will make an important contribution to their peer support activities.
