AZERBAIJ AN – NATO: ROAD BEGINNING FROM PARTNERSHIP
Dear readers!
“Azerbaij an-NATO: road beginning from partnership” is a new publication 
of Heydar Aliyev's Heritage Research Center.
Heydar Aliyev's Heritage Research Center started its activity on May 10, 
2004, which is the birthday of the national leader of Azerbaij an. A part of the 
Center, Heydar Aliyev Heritage International On-line Library presents read-
ers Heydar Aliyev`s speeches, statements, lett ers and texts of his meetings in 
35 languages. Leading universities, prominent research centers, governmental 
agencies, transnational corporations, as well as researchers, political scientists, 
students, interested in Azerbaij an, are among our readers.  
Books are published in diff erent languages by the publishing group of the 
Center. Each of them has been welcomed by the readers and gained popularity. 
Particularly the books “Heydar Aliyev: We can not allow a second Armenian 
state to be established in the territory of Azerbaij an”, which includes Heydar 
Aliyev`s speeches, interviews at OSCE summits held in Budapest, Lisbon and 
Istanbul, “Azerbaij an in the Organization of Islamic Conference” based on the 
speeches of President of the Republic of Azerbaij an Ilham Aliyev at the sum-
mits of the Organization of Islamic Conference should be noted. The fi rst book 
was published in Azerbaij ani, as well as English, French and Russian, which 
are the offi
  cial languages of the countries co-chairing at the Minsk Group of 
OSCE, while the second one includes the offi
  cial languages of the Organization 
of Islamic Conference – English, French and Arabic, alongside Azerbaij ani. 
The publication includes speeches, texts of the meetings of the prominent 
politician Heydar Aliyev and President of the Republic of Azerbaij an  Ilham 
Aliyev at meetings of NATO, historical references, the UN resolutions on the 
Azerbaij ani territories occupied by Armenia, documents of OSCE summits, in-
formation materials, maps and photos. 
The national leader of Azerbaij an Heydar Aliyev determined a new prior-
ity of the foreign policy of the Republic of Azerbaij an, which is the integration 
into the Euro-Atlantic system, having signed the NATO program “Partnership 
for Peace” in Brussels on May 4, 1994. While Armenia continied its aggression 
against Azerbaij an, such a step, as stated by Heydar Aliyev, allowed Azerbai-
jan create intensive and multilateral relations with the West and profi t from its 
rich experience, as well as establish NATO-level military forces. 
Established in 1949, NATO is a counseling forum on stability and security is-
sues in the Euro-Atlantic region. It actively participates in preventing confl icts 
and regulating crises, assists the development of partnership, cooperation and 
dialogue with the countries of the same region.
