REMEMBERiNG tHE GREAt PEOPLE....
The  people  of  Azerbaijan  had  been  rich  with 
prominent  genius  from  time  to  time.  The  ge-
nius  advanced  human  science,  culture,  litera-
ture  and  art  to  new  peaks  with  their  creativ-
ity.  Let’s  see,  how  many  things  written  about 
Nizami’s  wisdom  in  various  countries  of  the 
world. It is many years that Nizami studies are 
learned as a separate scientific field not only in 
Azerbaijan, but also in many countries of the 
world. Nizami poetry, his scientific and philo-
sophical world can be resembled to a huge sea 
with  unknown  borders.  Separate  researchers’ 
observations  in  this  sea,  things  they  love  and 
their  writings  are  very  few  yet.  Nizami  heri-
tage  has  some  unknown  sides  for  literary  fig-
ures  and  philosophers,  as  far  as  galactics  has 
mystery for mankind. 
Let us think of Nasiraddin Tusi. Is not his sci-
ence, philosophy and wisdom a grand mysteri-
ous  world,  is  he?  We  can  compare  the  world’s 
famous  leading  figures  with  Nizami  and  Tusi 
who  lived  in  the  same  period  with  them.  Be-
cause  Nizami  and  Tusi  are  bright  starts  of 
their time and therefore they are incomparable.  
They stand in a very high position like stars on 
the sky. 
One of the personalities holding high the name 
of people of Azerbaijan is Seyid Yahya Shirvani, 
who  is  from  kins  of  6th  Imam,  Museyi-Kazim 
and  known  mostly  as  Al-Bakuvi  pseudonym. 
Seyid  Yahya  Shirvani,  who  was  born  in  late 
14th century in Shamakhi, lived most part of his 
life in Baku and died in 1463 left his extremely 
rich, valuable scientific and literary, and moral 
heritage. Regretfully, his life and scientific-the-
oretical heritage to be sample for everyone were 
not explored seriously from scientific aspect till 
nowadays.  Silence  was  interrupted  by  senior 
lecturer  and  known  source  study  scientist  Dr. 
Mehmet Rihtim, director of Caucasus Research 
Institute  of  Qafqaz  University.  Mainly  by  his 
service and as a result of efforts of the first lady 
of Azerbaijan and MP, goodwill ambassador of 
UNESCO and ISESCO, year of 2013 was an-
nounced year of Seyid Yahya Shirvani (Bakuvi) 
by UNESCO.  Thus,  though a little late, Seyid 
Yahya Shirvani heritage became object of inter-
est and attention at international level. 
The web-site of Seyid Yahya Shirvani (Bakuvi) 
was presented on 19 June, 2013 at Internation-
al Press Center in Baku. We hope that this will 
be  a  successful  beginning  for  presentation  of 
Azerbaijani  science  and  culture  entirely  to  the 
world community in a new stage. 
Dear fans of MIRAS! I wish your way be bright 
and  successful  as  your  intentions  are.  Remem-
ber that we have further a lot of work to do in 
the  line  of  protection,  study  and  promotion  of 
our  people’s  historical  past  and  rich  cultural 
heritage. Dear friends, it is our and your duty 
to implement this difficult and honourable ob-
ligation!

Azerbaijan  was  historically  a  land  of 
soul friends. As is known, the bound of 
love started from Veysel Garani expand-
ed to Sufism school. Suhreverdism, Zahi-
dism, Sefevidism, Khalvatism , its section 
like Rovshanism, Gulshanism and Cau-
casus branch of Nakhibandism indicate 
Azerbaijan’s possession of love heritage.
There is a need for our getting back to our 
past when the world is focused on toler-
ance, dialogue and love. How well do we 
know and aware today of founders and 
lovers of Khalvatism school from Azer-
baijan  including  Shamakhi  and  Baku? 
Khalvatism school of Azerbaijani origin 
having more than 40 branches and 200 
sections  had  been  taught  for  hundred 
years  in  Caucasus,  Anatolia,  the  Bal-
kans,  Egypt,  Algeria,  Morocco,  Sudan, 
Italy, even in Brazil, US and other coun-
tries and is being taught presently…
We were provided with the opportunity 
to  consider  these  values  of  ours  again, 
host and spread and revise them deeply 
by  UNESCO’s  declaring  2013  year  as 
Seyid Yahya Bakuvi with support of the First Lady of Azerbaijan, 
Mehriban Aliyeva. 
In these sense, researches of historian scientist, senior lecturer and 
Dr.  Mehmet  Rihtim,  director  of  Caucasus  Research  Institute  of 
Qafqaz University should be particularly noted. Furthermore, his 
gradually enriching his studies, re-elaborating his works benefited 
from new sources and new knowledge, increases the readers’ atten-
tion and interest to him and his studies. Researches of our respected 
scientist once again prove that the thought ‘Azerbaijani Turks have 
Azərbaycan  tarixən  könül  dostlarının 
yurdu  olub.  Bəlli  olduğu  kimi  Veysəl 
Qarani ilə başlayan sevgi bağları sufiliklə 
məktəbləşmişdir.  Sührəverdilik,  zahi-
dilik, səfəvilik, xəlvətilik, onun şöbələri 
rövşənilik,  gülşənilik  və  nəqşibəndliyin 
qafqaz  qolu  Azər¬baycanın  hansı  sevgi 
mirasına sahib olduğunu göstərir.
Dünyanın  tolerantlıq,  dialoq,  xoşgö-
rü  və  sevgidən  tez-tez  danışdığı  son 
illərdə  bizim  də  dönüb  keçmişimizə 
yenidən  nəzər  salmağımız  lazımdır. 
Bu  gün  dünyanın  hər  qitəsinə  məhz 
Azərbaycandan,  Şamaxıdan,  Bakıdan 
yayılan  xəlvətilik  məktəbini,  onun  ya-
radıcılarını  və  sevənlərini  nə  qədər  ta-
nıyırıq?  40-dan  çox  qola,  200-dən  çox 
şöbəyə malik Azərbaycan əsilli xəlvətilik 
məktəbi  yüzillərlə  Qafqaz,  Anadolu, 
Balkanlar, Misir, Əlcəzair, Mərakeş, Su-
dan, İtaliya, hətta Braziliya, ABŞ və baş-
qa  ölkələrdə,  bölgələrdə  öyrədilmişdir, 
öyrədilməkdədir..! 
Azərbaycanın  birinci  xanımı  Mehri-
ban  Əliyevanın  dəstəyi  ilə  YUNESKO 
2013-cü  ili  Seyid  Yəhya  Bakuvi  ili  elan 
etməklə  bizə  bu  dəyərlərimizə  yenidən 
nəzər  salmaq,  sahiblənmək  və  yaymaq  imkanı  vermiş,  bizi  öz 
dəyərlərimizə yenidən – daha dərindən baxmağa sövq etmişdir.
Bu anlamda, tarixçi alim, Qafqaz Universitetinin Qafqaz Araşdır-
maları İnstitutunun direktoru, Dos.Dr. Mehmet Rıhtımın araşdır-
malarını özəlliklə və şükranlıqla qeyd etmək gərəkdir. Ayrıca, onun 
öz tədqiqatlarına zaman keçdikcə yeni gözlə baxması, əldə etdiyi 
yeni qaynaqlardan, yeni bilgilərdən yararlanaraq, əsərlərini yenidən 
işləməsi, zənginləşdirməsi oxucunun həm onun özünə, həm də ilk 
növbədə tədqiqatlarına diqqət və marağını artırır. Hörmətli alimi-
mizin tədqiqatları bir daha sübut edir ki, “bəşəriyyətin formalaşdır-
