II.4Teaching ways of adjective phrases
How to Teach Adjectival Phrases
Adjectival Phrases are probably more often called adjective phrases; however, to be technical we are supposed to use an adjective to modify a noun, such as phrases, if one exists, and not two nouns. Adjectival is the adjective form of the noun, adjective, so that’s why we use it. Of course it’s much more important to know what an adjectival phrase is and how to identify it when we see it and write it when we want to.18
Today’s grammar and usage lesson is on adjectival phrases. Remember that an adjective modifies a noun or pronoun and answers Which one? How many? or What kind? A phrase is a group of related words without a connected noun and verb.19

We also can teach adjective phrases with the help of different games.
First of all, we divided our game into four aspects: listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary.
In the first game we begin with listening. Teacher divided students into two or may be four groups. Teacher put one simple record for everybody. It may be conversation about family, friendship, love or motherland. During the listening students should listen and write adjective phrases which they listened to. At the end of this game winners will be which group wrote more adjective phrases than others. Then they should analyse adjective phrases very attentively.
Second game is reading with speaking. In this game winner will be one person. Now teacher should chose one story not very simple and not very difficult to read. It also may be about family, friendship, love, motherland or society. Then during the reading this story student should find adjective phrases and circle them and find translation from vocabulary. After it all students retell story. Who tells story with many adjective phrases and well winner will be this student.
Third one is writing. It will be not game, it will be task. Every student should write one story. They can write about their life or compose one simple story. Of course, they should write their story with the help of adjective phrases. At least they should write twenty adjective phrases. They can’t use one adjective phrase two times in their story.
Fourth section is teaching adjective phrases with grammar. First teacher should introduce adjective phrases to students and give information about them. Then teacher should do one exercise with group and analyse it. After it students also should do about 4 or 5 exercises at home. Next lesson teacher divide students into groups and give them exercise. Then check it. Which group do exercise well, they will be winners.
An interesting way to teach adjective phrases is using vocabulary. First of all we chose about one adjective phrase. Then we search translation from translator vocabulary and definition from descriptive vocabulary.
