Urgency of expanding the excavation one more square towards west
occured with the purpose to open completely a bathroom complex. We started
cleanse work along the walls towards west starting from a tunnel passage. Brick
piles being in a stuck condition appeared primarily in the middle part. Those were
ruined parts of the construction. The order of the bricks expressed clearly their
being wall arches. We felt as if we were in a room covered with vault from surface.
More interesting architectural elements were consistently appeared since the
excavation was underway. An entire room being in a polygon form was opened in
this way. Padded chairs looking like cells covered in crown-like form from upper
side, were displayed in six places in south, west, north east, and east part of the
room. Their front part was built by stones being a little higher than the floor around
the man-made pond. Width of cells on the first padded chairs on the right during
entering inside from a tunnel passage is 1, 61 m, height is 1, 30 m and depth
towards the inner part of the wall is 1, 00 m. Width of relatively small cells in
north direction from there is 0, 87 m, height is 0, 95 m and depth towards the wall
is 1,04 meter. A small pit, around and bottom of which was built with bricks, and
had 16, 5-sm width, 20-centimetre length and 16, 5-centimetre depth was fixed on
the floor of the padded chair belonged to the cell in north east direction (width-1,
65 m; depth into the wall-1,10 meter). It supposedly was used as a brazier. There
was another niche which width was 53 sm, height was 44 and depth was 29 sm on
reverse wall of the padded-chair cell. The latter's height in west of the room is 1,
20 meter; width-1, 50 meter and depth into the wall is 1, 13 meter. A small niche is
seen on the reverse wall of this cell.
Another relatively small padded-chair cell was displayed in south-west
corner of the room. Its size includes 1,05-meter height; 0, 85-meter width and 1,
04-meter depth.
Padded-chair cell in south of the room is larger. Its width is 1, 50 meter,
height is 1, 70 meter and depth is 1, 13 meter.
A small man-made pond existed in the centre of the square in front of the
cells (squares' length is 2, 62 meter and width is 2, 44 meter). The man-made pond
was constructed of mine stones, hewed accurately, worn each other and having
ornaments similar to auricle trimmed with carving method. Its width and length are
0, 54 meter and depth is 0, 80 meter. Water enters the man-made pond from west
direction through pottery pipes.
Stairs (91-centimetre width) built by river stones were displayed in north-
west corner of the room. The bathroom was rather deep from the earth as it is seen
from the structure of the stairs. It is characteristics for medieval bathrooms in
general. Such bathrooms were usually cool in summer and hot in winter.
The room having a man-made pond inside it, was a resting room of the
bathroom complex as it's seen from its structure. Apparently, people sat and had a
rest in cells of this room after bathing is completed. Finally, structure of a

bathroom complex informs its being a construction belonged to elite layer of the
town.
Architectural elements used in construction of the bathroom notify high
professionalism of Agsu masters. Each of wall arches, niches and man-made ponds
is tender and sufficiently developed architectural elements both in complex and
separate forms. Local masters' being skillful in masonry field is felt every moment.
Ornaments over one of the stones near the bathroom stairs are proof for it.
Excessively hugh stone was engraved, transformed into bowl and some big holes
were opened on its upper side. According to specialists, the highest part of the
bathroom was mainly completed in cupol-like form by this stone, however the
holes on the stone were closed with glass. Basic hall of the bathroom was
elucidated through light coming out of those halls.
In one word, a huge bathroom complex displayed in Agsu Town informs
about sufficient high level of home and sanitary issues in last medieval towns of
Azerbaijan in tote.
edirdi. Bütün bunlar isə təbiidir ki, şəhər həyatında çox ciddi canlanmaya səbəb
olmuşdu. Ağsu ustalarının istehsal etdiyi ayrı-ayrı məmulat növlərinin çeşid
müxtəlifliyi, formalarındakı əski və yeni elementlərin harmoniyası burada
keçmişin zəngin sənət ənənələrinin yaşadığından, onların zaman-zaman yeni
çalarlarla zənginləşdirilərək daha kamil həddə çatdırıldığından xəbər verir.
Ərazidə zəngin xammal ehtiyatlarının olması sənətkarlığın inkişafını
şərtləndirən çox mühüm amillərdən idi. Məsələn, elat əhalisinin bəslədiyi mal-qara
və qoyun sürüləri yun və gön-dəri məmulatının bolluğundan, bu isə toxuculuq,
