was an expansion of his idea of using coils to transmit power
he had been demonstrating in wireless lighting. He could see
this as not only a way to transmit large amounts of power
around the world but also, as he had pointed out in his earlier
lectures, a way to transmit worldwide communications. On his
50th birthday, in 1906, Tesla demonstrated a 200
horsepower16,000 rpm
bladeless turbine
. During 1910–1911 at
the Waterside Power Station in New York, several of his
bladeless turbine engines were tested at 100–5,000 hp. Tesla
worked with several companies including the period 1919–
1922 working in
Milwaukee
for
Allis-Chalmers
. He spent most
of his time trying to perfect the Tesla turbine with Hans
Dahlstrand, the head engineer at the company, but engineering
difficulties meant it was never made into a practical device.
Tesla did license the idea to a precision instrument company
and it found use in the form of luxury car
speedometers
and
other instruments.

Baku is a large educational and scientific center. There
are a lot of high educational and research institus here and one
of the oldest of them is the ASOIU. The university has seven
faculties. One of them is Oil mechanical engineering faculty.
At he beginning of the department was a division within the
faculty of “Oil Industry” and since 1930 the faculty was named
“Petroleum Mechanics” functions. Professors from academics
and educators showing creative intiatives in the establishment
and development of the faculty

yev and others. Now, the dean of our faculty Ə.H.Əhmədov.At
present, the number of full-time and part-time students
studying at the bachelor`s degree level is 825,at magistracy
degree is 52, 12 people are studying at the doctors degree.
From the day of it`s foundation up to now ten thousands of
bachelors.100 masters are engineers mechanic. Of the more
than 100 employers of the faculty, are doctors of sciences
professors.
There are many academics and professors in our faculty.
One of them is Azad Mirzajanzade. He received his higher
education in 1944-1949 at the Oil and Mining faculty of the
Azerbaijan Industrial Institute. Associate Professor of the
Theoretical Mechanics Department of the Azerbaijan State
University in 1951-1957, professor in 1957-1959, from 1959
till the end of his life he worked as the head of the department
at the ASOIU. He gained great reputation in Azerbaijan with
valuable research in the field of application mechanics and oil
and gas operations. A.M, author of about 400 scientific works,
more than 50 inventions and patents, paid special attention to
the global optimization of oil and gas extraction processes in
his scientific activity.
Another professor of our faculty is Ibrahim Habibov. In
1968 he entered the petrochemical faculty of Oil and
Chemistry Institute (current ASOIU).He is the author of about
170 monographs, scientific articles and textbooks. In 2010 he
was awarded a “Progress medal”. Currently he is the head of
the Department of “Engineering Graphics”
As to the graduaters of the Petroleum and Mechanics
faculty in 2012-2016 M.Rzazadə said to
“Our university has achieved a lot of success with
Professor M.Babanlı`s leadership.

LARGEST OIL SPILLS IN WORLDWIDE HISTORY

In 21th century, when extraction of natural resources
reached highest level, tragic disasters, known as industrial
happen every once in a while. Industrial disasters, which are
disasters caused by industrial companies, either by accident.
They are a form of industrial accident where great damage,
injury or loss of life are caused. Those are also considered to
be oil spills in seas and oceans. Oil spill is the release of a
liquid petroleum hydrocarbon into the environment, especially
the marine ecosystem, due to human activity, and is a form of
pollution. Oil spills may be due to releases of crude oil from
tankers, offshore platforms, drilling rigs and wells, as well as
spills of refined petroleum products, such as gasoline and
diesel, and their by-products. In my report I will provide with
an information regarding three major oil spills in the world.
Ixtoc 1 Oil Well, 1979. Bay of Campeche, Mexico 140 million
gallons.
In June 1979, an oil well in the Bay of Campeche
collapsed after a pressure buildup sparked an accidential
explosion. In next 10 month, over 140 million gallons of crude
oil spouted into the Gulf of Mexico from the damaged oil well.
In order to slow down the flow of oil into the Gulf, mud, steel,
iron and lead balls were dropped into its shaft. As a result slick
of oil was 1100 square miles.

Horizon,
2010.

210 million gallonsThe BP oil spill flowed for three months,
becoming largest accidental marine oil spill in the history of
the petroleums industry. The spill stemmed from a sea-floor oil
gusher that resulted from the April 20, 2010, explosion of
