to develop rapidly.   
But there are problems at the same time. The major ones are unemployment and 
poverty. We are working on  the reduction of poverty with several international 
institutions, including the World Bank. The poverty has been reduced for 10 per 
cent during the last 1,5 year. Moreover, 300 thousand new jobs, mainly in the non-
oil sector, have opened in the recent two years. I see that women occupy the main 
part of the newly opened jobs. It is important for our policy in the integration to 
Europe.
Most of the people working in the sphere of medicine and education are women. 
We are implementing big programs into life in these spheres. We plan to build 
hundreds of hospitals and schools. We want to improve the life of our people. I do 
not want to take your time by speaking about our problems. I welcome you once 
more. I am very satisfi ed with the organization of this conference. I am happy to see 
so many beautiful women here. 
The head of NATO`s Public Diplomacy Division Nilhus Girlend thanked 
President Ilham Aliyev for acceptign them. She underlined that the relations between 
Azerbaijan and NATO are developing not only in political and military spheres, but 
also in scientifi c, environmental, gender and public diplomacy issues as well.  
Member of the German parliament Barbel Koffl er thanked President Ilham Aliyev 
for the conditions created for their meeting and discussion of important issues. She 
said that they had discussed the  role of women in establishing peace and stability, 
and strengthening security. 
President Ilham Aliyev thanked for the kind words and added that he is satisfi ed 
with the participation of the representatives of different organizations at the 
conference: Azerbaijan actively cooperates with many international organizations, 
such as the European Union, the European Council, NATO, as well as different NGOs 
functioning in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan has been taking part in the «Partnership for 
Peace Program» of NATO for many years. Now it is going towards the «Individual 
Partnership Action Plan». This April I visited the headquarters of NATO and 
submitted to NATO the documents on the Individual Partnership Action Plan. This 
cooperation is of great importance for us. Trainings and instructions in which our 
servicemen also take part will strengthen our infrastructure.

As you know, the Azerbaijani soldiers are participating in peacekeeping operations 
in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq. As a part of the international coalition, they 
contribute to establishing peace and stability in those regions. 
This conference is of great importance. Representatives of many countries and 
organizations are taking part in it. Now there are opportunities for them to establish 
relations with their colleagues here. 
Azerbaijan is a new country. Despite its rich and long history, it has been a member 
of the international community for more than ten years. That`s why not so many 
people are informed about Azerbaijan. 
We want to modernize our country. Our society is tolerant and multinational. 
Representatives of many nationalities and religions peacefully co-exist here. The 
national and religious tolerance of Azerbaijan can be a good example for the whole 
region. There is stability and economic growth in our country. Social problems are 
being solved. We want to cooperate with international institutions, governmental 
and non-governmental organizations. We need it. We are taking part in the regional 
projects, where the role of women is very important. 
I wish you the best and to have good time in Azerbaijan.

Dear ladies!
I congratulate you on the International Women’s Day, wish you good health, 
happiness and successes. 
The Azerbaijani women have an exclusive role in the formation of our national 
values. For us mother and native land are the same. Our men-of-literature and art 
praised the beauty, loyalty and courage of the Azerbaijani women in their works.
The role of the women in the family and society has always been respected in 
Azerbaijan. Our women are now playing an important role in the ongoing processes 
in Azerbaijan, such as the democratization and establishment of statehood. The 
successes of our women in science, education, culture, medicine and other fi elds 
demonstrate their high potentials. 
I hope that the Azerbaijani women will raise our new generation in the spirit of 
national values, do their best to make them loyal citizens of our country.

Dear Mr Director-General! 
Ladies and Gentlemen! 
Dear guests! 
I greet you at Heydar Aliyev Foundation. I am very glad to see you at our 
Foundation. I express my deep gratitude to the Islamic Countries Education, 
Science and Culture Organization and Mr Abdulaziz Osman al-Tuveyrji, personally 
to You, for granting me the high title of the Goodwill Ambassador. 
It is great honor to me that a prestigious organization such as ISESCO attaches 
such a high value to my activity. 
ISESCO covering 57 countries carries out a very noble mission. Major objective 
of the organization is to establish relations among world countries in the fi eld of 
science, education and culture and dialog among nations. In its turn it guarantees 
peace and security. During its 24-year activity the Islamic Countries Education, 
Science and Culture Organization has done very great works, gained very great 
successes, implemented big projects for the development of science, education and 
culture in the Muslim countries. It needs to mention that ISESCO does not limit 
its activity with the   Muslim countries only. There are such countries worldwide 
where total number of Muslims in population is 30, 20 and even 10%. But ISESCO 
is fi rmly cooperates with these countries, develops programs, allocates credits, 
grants for development of science, education and culture, too. 
Another very essential direction of the activity ISESCO is protection of rich 
historical heritage of the Islamic world and its delivery to future generations. 
Existence of Muslim states today, facing the war, attaches special importance 
to this activity. We highly value the statement given by the organization on the
