| Elementaryvocab (1)Hurricane- a violent wind that has a circular movement. E.g. The state of Florida was hit by a hurricane that did serious damage.
Thunderstorm- a storm with thunder and lightning and usually heavy rain. E.g. All thunderstorms are dangerous. Every thunderstorm produces lightning.
Shine-reflect light. E.g. The sun is shining
Bonfire- a large fire that is made outside. E.g. We built a bonfire on the beach.
Firework- small objects that are lit to entertain people on special occasions. They contain chemicals and burn brightly or attractively, often with a loud noise, when you light them.
Roast- you cook it by dry heat in an oven or over a fire. E.g. I roasted the vegetables with some olive oil
Nursery school- a place where young children and babies are taken care of
Primary school- a school for children who are between 5 to eleven years old
Secondary school- a school for children approximately between the ages of 11 and 18 years old
State school- a government school
Private school-a school supported by a private organization. E.g. And he is reported to send his son to private school.
The Prime Minister-the head of an elected government. E.g. The Japanese prime minister argued strongly against it
The royal family- the queen and king. E.g. The divorce was a disgrace to the royal family.
Soap opera- Soaps are stories about people’s lives. They are often on TV every day
Documentary- programme looking at a social problem or question
reality TV- programmes that film real people living their lives, not actors. E.g. He is making a reality TV series, and is about to host his own chat show.
