istiqamətini və sürətini tənzimləyir.
nəzarətlə əlaqəli olmasını ehtimal etmək olar.
v kvadrat
Bu kvadrat 2-ci kvadratın cənubunda olmaqla,
yalnız 5x9 m ölçüdə qazılmışdır. Hələ yer səthindən
xeyli sayda saxsı fraqmentlər aşkar edildi (tablo I, 6).
man texnika vasitəsilə aşırdılmışdır. Gil möhrə tiki-
linin içərisindən puç daşdan yonulmuş səkkizguşəli
sütunaltlığı da aşkar edildi (şək.17). Bu tapıntılar
həmin hissədə inzibati bina qalıqlarının varlığını
göstərir.
are broad on one side and narrow on the other, which
regulates the direction and speed of the flow. Due to the
sequence of the connection of the narrow parts to the
broader parts, we could determine the direction of the
flow of the pipes. These clay pipes were placed in a nar-
row hollow which was surrounded by gravel-stone and
soil and covered by gravel-stone. Along the pipeline,
several shallow wells were observed and it is supposed
that they are related to the construction of the pipes and
helped to regulate the flow.
square v
This square is located to the south of square II
and its dimensions are 5x9 m. The east of the square
is rich in mixed soil and numerous clay fragments
to a depth of 0.25-0.50 m from the surface, which
is similar to the condition of the second square at
the same part. No important building structures were
observed here; hence it was excavated only 1.2 m.
deep. Wells of various depths were discovered in
the south, south-west and at the center of the square.
Many clay fragments belonging to the Late Antique
Period were discovered in the square (table I, 6).
square vi
This square which is located to the south of square
III and west of square V, was first excavated in an
area of 5x9 m, then this area was widened to 9x9
m following finds. It was observed at the section of
the clay fence wall that turns in a westerly direction
which was discovered in square III. Moreover, there
are large stones placed side-by-side at the north-west
part of the square close to ground level. It is assumed
they were dumped there during tillage at a later time.
An octagonal column base was discovered within
the clay wall structure (Fig.17). These finds are ele-
ments of administrative buildings located here.

vii kvadrat
4-cü kvadratın şərqində qoyulmuş 7-ci kvadra-
tın tədqiqində məqsəd saxsı boruların istiqamətini
müəyyənləşdirməkdən ibarət idi. Həmin kvadratda
borulara təsadüf olunmasa da, orada gil möhrədən
tikilmiş bina qalıqları (şək.18), təsərrüfat quyuları və
iri təsərrüfat küpü aşkar edildi (şək.19). İri təsərrüfat
küpü 1.55 m hündürlükdə olmaqla boğaza qədər
torpağa basdırılmış vəziyyətdə istifadə olunmuşdur
(tablo III, 5). Küpün kənarlarında paya yerləri də var-
dır. Küp bütöv olsa da, onun gövdəsində iki çat vardı.
Bu çatların içərisi torpaqdan təmizlənərək, yerindəcə
bərpa edilib in situ saxlanıldı. Kvadratın şimal-şərq
hissəsində mühüm tikili qalıqlarına təsadüf olunma-
dığından orada alt qatların öyrənilməsinə başlanıldı.
Həmin yer 2.9 m dərinliyə qədər qazılaraq xam tor-
viii kvadrat
Saxsı boruların istiqamətlərini izləmək üçün
qərbə doğru 8 və 9-cu, şimala doğru 10-cu kvadrat-
ların tədqiqinə başlanıldı. 8-ci kvadratda boruların
ardını izləməklə yanaşı, burada müxtəlif istiqamətdə
digər iki saxsı boru xətti aşkarlandı (şək.20). Hələ
4-cü kvadratda şərq-qərb istiqamətində izlənilən
boru şərq tərəfə doğru, 8-ci kvadratda həmin xətti
kəsən şimal-şərq və cənub-qərb istiqamətində
digər bir boru ilə toqquşur. Bu borunun su axımı
istiqaməti cənub-qərbdən şimal-şərqədir. Həmin
square vii
The purpose of the excavations in square VII lo-
cated to the east of square IV was to determine the
direction of the clay pipes. Though the pipes were
not observed in the square, building remains made
of clay (Fig.18), agricultural wells and a large pitch-
er (Fig.19) were discovered. The large agricultural
pitcher is 1.55 m tall and was used buried up to its
neck (table III, 5). Traces of piling are observed
around the pitcher. Though the pitcher was discov-
ered as a complete artifact, it did have two cracks.
The integral parts of the cracks were cleaned of soil,
renovated and preserved.
Since the north-eastern part of the square is not
observed as having significant building structures,
excavation was carried out in deeper layers. The area
was excavated to a depth of 2.9 m down to a raw
soil layer. Four graves, in which the skeletons’ heads
were lying towards Mecca, were discovered along
the eastern part of the square. The graves belong to
the post-residence period in the area.
The direction of the above-mentioned clay pipes
was eastwards, while they got lost close to the ag-
ricultural pitcher which was discovered. It is not
known whether the pitchers resulted in the destruc-
tion of the pipes. However, the pipes continue into
square XII, which is located to the north of square
VII. Both the clay pipes and the agricultural pitchers
are assumed to belong to the 8th-9th centuries.
square viii
To observe the direction of the clay pipes, an in-
vestigation was initiated in squares VIII and IX west-
wards and in square X northwards. Along with the
clay pipes already found, another two lines of clay
pipes were discovered in square VIII (Fig.20). Thus,
the east-west clay pipe located in square IV meets on
the east side another pipe in square VIII running in a
north-easterly and south-westerly direction. The di-
rection of flow in this pipe is from the south-west to-
wards the north-east. The pipe passes close to a pool
