Museum and silk workshop in Basgal settlement of Ismayilly region.

The  international  conference  went  on  in  “Qaya”  resort  center  on 

Ismayilly-Lahij road on 3-4 October 2012. Development of archae-

ology science, results of last explorations; archaeological and ethno-

graphic  tourism  development  perspectives  in  Eurasian  region  were 

discussed in two-day conference. Scientists from Turkey, Russia, Italy, 

Uzbekistan and other countries, took part at the discussions. 

Reports  of  associate  member  of  National  Academy  of  Sciences  of 

Azerbaijan (NASA), Professor Veli Aliyev; chief of Agsu archaeologi-

cal expedition, Dr. of Historical Sciences Gafar Jabiyev; employee of 

Azov  History,  Archaeology  and    Paleontological  Museum  Reserve, 

PhD,  Irina  Gusach  ;  head  of  chair  in  Azerbaijan  State  Economy 

University, Hidayat Jafarov; chairman of MIRAS Social Organiza-

tion,  PhD  Fariz  Khalilli;  head  scientific  worker  on  archaeology  of 

Science-Culture Center of Icherisheher State History and Architecture 

Reserve, PhD Ganira Pirguliyeva; employee of Russian Federation 

Novosibirsk State University, PhD Alisa Borisenko ; employee of Rus-

sian Federation Kazan State University Archaeology Museum, Alsu 

Nuretdinova  were welcomed by the conference participants with in-

terest. It was said in the speeches that, Eurasia is considered the most 

ancient and the richest region of the world, the first dwelling, the region 

early civilization samples created and all of these gained as a result of 

archaeological excavations.  The participants went to Lahij Settlement 

after the conference’s last working day. 

On  the  conference’s  last  day  archaeological  tourism,  development 

perspectives of archaeological and ethnographic tourism in Eurasian 

region were discussed, too. 

Speeches of Begul Ozkoja, Koray Alper, the researchers from Turkey; 

Mehmet Rihtim from Qafqaz University; Andrey Borodovskiy, Elena 

Popravko  and  Elena  Koveshnikova  from  Russian  Federation;  Ka-

mil Ibrahimov ; associate member of National Academy of Scinces 

of Azerbajan, well-known architect  Jafar Giyasi and others were fol-

lowed by the participants with interest. 

The speakers bringing into notice existence of sufficiently large poten-

tial for the development of archaeological tourism in Eurasian space 

noted successful results gained in some places in this domain and indi-

cated there is too much work to be done in the line of establishment of 

tourism complexes in large-scale archaeological camps and old cities 

kept under cultural layers; improvement of their infrastructure and 

turning historical and cultural monuments into tourism object as the 

last result of these events. 

The participants specially noted that conservation has special impor-

tance during archaeological research. Within this term, significance of 

the done work at medieval Agsu town tourism complex was noted as 

the sample. 

During the conference there was underscored particular significance of 

making use of existent experience on cooperation and arrangement of 

archaeological tourism in implementation of archaeological research 

in Eurasian space and the organizers of 4th International Congress 

of Eurasian archaeology held in Azerbaijan were expressed gratitude. 

It was noted the event’s particular importance included acquaintance 

with scientists and experts; presentation of books on archaeological

Avrasiya  məkanında  arxeoloji  turizmin  inkişafı  üçün  kifayət 

qədər  böyük  potensialın  olduğunu  diqqətə  çatdıran    natiqlər 

bir  sıra  yerlərdə  bu  sahədə  qazanılan  uğurlu  nəticələrdən 

danışmış,  habelə  göstərmişlər  ki,  hələ  genişmiqyaslı  arx-

eoloji düşərgələrdə və mədəni təbəqələr altında qalmış qədim 

şəhərlərdə  turizm  kompleksləri  yaratmaq,  onların  infrastruk-

turunu  yaxşılaşdırmaq  və  bu  tədbirlərin  son  nəticəsi  kimi 

tarixi  və  mədəniyyət  abidələrini  turizm  məhsuluna  çevirmək 

istiqamətində görüləsi işlər çoxdur.

Konfrans  iştirakçıları  arxeoloji  tədqiqatların  başa  çatdırıldığı 

yerlərdə  zəruri  konservasiya  işləri  aparılmasının  çox  mühim 

önəm  daşıdığını  xüsusi  olaraq  vurğulamışlar.  Bu  baxımdan 

Orta əsr Ağsu arxeoloji turizm kompleksində görülən işlərin bir 

nümunə kimi əhəmiyyəti qeyd olunmuşdur.

Konfransda  Avrasiya  məkanında  arxeoloji  tədqiqatların 

aparılmasında  əməkdaşlığın,  arxeoloji  turizmin  təşkilində 

mövcud  təcrübədən  faydalanmağın  hamı  üçün  xüsusi 

əhəmiyyəti  qeyd  olunmuş,  bu  baxımdan  Azərbaycanda 

keçirilən  IV  Beynəlxalq  Avrasiya  arxeologiyası  konfransının 

təşkilatçılarına  təşəkkür  edilmişdir.  Qeyd  edilmişdir  ki, 

alimlərin,  mütəxəssislərin  tanışlığı,  Avrasiya  məkanının  ayrı-

ayrı  regionlarında  aparılan  arxeoloji  tədqiqatlara  həsr  edilmiş 

kitabların qarşılıqlı hədiyyələr və konfransın gələcək əməkdaşlıq 

əlaqələri ilə bağlı qərarları tədbirin xüsusi əhəmiyyət daşıdığının 

göstəricisidir.

Konfransın sonuncu iş günündə iştirakçılar İsmayıllı şəhərinin 

görməli yerləri, o cümlədən rayondakı Heydər Əliyev Mərkəzi, 

tarix-diyarşünaslıq  muzeyi,  İvanovka  və  Hacıhətəmli  kəndləri 

ilə tanış olmuşlar.

On the last day of the conference the participants familiarized with 

places of interest of Ismayilly City, as well as Haydar Aliyev Center, 

history and local lore museum, Ivanovka and Hajihatamli Villages.
