Process of Objectivity and “Subjectivity” through SET Theory 

Resume

Dimitri Uznadze formed the SET Theory, according to which the human 

behavior is going on at two levels - at impulsive and objectivity levels. The 

former is the direct reaction to the environment, and the latter concerns the 

obstacle perception. After the publication of D. Uznadze’s archive materials, it 

turned out that the author intended to specify  major concepts of his theory and 

implement novelties. He assumed that along with the objectivity process, the 

subjectivity process should be reviewed, as these two processes are  similar in 

form, but different in contents. The subjectivity process is going on on the basis 

of fixed disposition SET, i.e. with consideration of preliminarily accepted 

views. In the present article we will discuss the views, associated with this 

concept. After discussion we will find out that the subjectivity process is going 

on simultaneously with the objectivity process and they have proportional 

attitudes toward each other. Introducing the subjectivity concept is important for 

SET Theory, as it creates a new area for behavior explanation. The ways are set 

with regard to SET Theory semiotics, implicit social attitude theory and social 

representation Theory based on introducing og this concept.
