Dissertatsiya, oxirgi versiya 3

- Derivative (27%) terms are formed in the process of derivation using affixes: antechamber - hallway; battlement - battlement; beaming - beam construction; abradant - grinding material; bearer - bearing part; bracketing - crate for attaching the mesh under the plaster when pulling out the cornices; brightener - polishing agent; catchment - a pool for collecting water; lodgement - apartment, dwelling; clinker - burnt brick.

A derived term is a derivational structure consisting of one free component, which is the basis of a derivational structure, and one related component61. Derived terms form the most essential part of the vocabulary of any language and are, as noted by T.S. Kirillov, the most changeable, flexible, mobile, constantly replenishing and developing, and therefore least amenable to rigid fixation, system62. Our research has shown that the terminology of construction is characterized by such a morphological method of terminology as affixation. Affixation refers to the morphological method of term formation, which allows one to adequately reflect the development of a concept that is the result of the genesis of scientific thinking of a human specialist. At the same time, the term already existing in this scientific field is used to create a JIE correlated with it63. Affixation reflects the dynamics of a scientific concept and, in particular, its specialization. By means of affixation, a scientific concept can express not only a process, but also a result, for example, "construct" means a process, i.e. construction, from this term, by means of affixation, another lexeme "construction" was formed, which has the meaning of construction - the result of a process (see: Appendix, Diagram 2).

Terminological vocabulary selects from all the word-formation means of the language only those types and models that are most consistent with the expression of the concepts of those branches of science and technology that they represent. The most productive way of forming derivative terms in construction terminology is suffixation. Using suffixes, you can easily create new terms for any branch of science and technology. In the terminology system, these formants play an important role, representing the frequently used paths and categorization patterns within the NCM. Suffixes usually have a very broad meaning, however, in a specific system of scientific terminology, they can be specialized, i.e. their meaning is narrowed down in the desired direction64.

We analyzed the productivity of suffixes in construction terminology. I.N. Nikishina believes that not all affixes allocated in derived words at a certain stage of language development are equally lively and productive65. It is known that in modern English there are productive, unproductive and unproductive suffixes. The number of productive suffixes is small, and, nevertheless, the formation of new words by suffixing occupies a prominent place among other productive ways of replenishing the construction terminology of modern English. When analyzing the suffixes through which the construction terms were formed, the following data were obtained:

-еr (45%) burnisher - polisher; controller - controller; laborer - worker; matcher - fitter;

-ing (23%) chocking - clogging; depositing - laying concrete mix; detwisting - editing profiles on a promotion machine; galetting - the inclusion of stone fragments in an uncured lime mortar; coping - cornice; cottering - wedge fastening; footing - foundation;

-tion (8%) immuration - immuring; palification - strengthening with piles;

-or (6%) circulator - pump; perforator - perforator; constructor - builder / constructor; inspector - a representative of the technical supervision of construction;

-ment (5%) catchment - 1) a pool for collecting water, 2) drainage; lodgement - apartment, dwelling; development - improvement of the qualitative characteristics of a building structure; displacement - movement;

-ant (4%) abradant - grinding material; decolourant - bleaching agent; adamant - 1) a very hard stone, 2) adamant; agglutinant - agglutinating substance;

-ture (3%) ossasture - frame; fructure - to break; armature - armature; fixture - fittings;

-ance (3%) appurtenance - spare part, water-carrying dam structure, headset; abeyance - temporary suspension of construction work, uncertainty, a state of expectation in the conduct of construction work;

-ize (3%) bituminize - cover with bitumen; canalize - carry out sewerage; galvanize - galvanize; macadamize - pave with rubble, level; palletize - stack (see: Appendix, Diagram 3).

Thus, we see that in the field of construction and construction technologies, the most productive suffixes of term formation are -er and -ing, the largest number of terms are formed by means of these morphemes giving nouns. Based on the semantic features of productive suffixes in the terminology of construction, the suffix - er takes a leading place in the formation of terms with the meaning of construction professions. If we consider the suffix -ing, then this morpheme is characterized by a procedural meaning. That is why, in the terminological system we are studying, a very significant number of terminological lexemes have the meaning of construction processes.

A much less productive method of terminology turned out to be prefixing, the number of such terms in construction terminology is small, they amounted to only 5%, for example: overarch - to cover with a vault; overdrive - driving piles into a solid layer. This is due to the fact that suffixes have a number of features that distinguish them from prefixes. They are brighter than prefixes, characterize the corresponding terms, both structurally and semantically66.
