země proto vznikla před pouhými několika lety a nejsou spojována s žádnými historickými událostmi
národních dějin. První slovinské vyznamenání, Řád svobody Slovinské republiky, vzniklo v roce 1992
a dodnes zůstává nejvyšší státní dekorací. Celý systém záslužných dekorací pak byl vytvořen až v roce
2004. Tvoří jej Zlatý řád Za službu v civilní oblasti, Zlatý řád Za službu ve vojenské a bezpečnostní oblasti
a Zlatý řád Za službu v mezinárodní a diplomatické oblasti, následovaný Stříbrným řádem Za službu
matické oblasti) a Medailí Za
úctyhodný čin (v civilní oblasti,
ve vojenské a bezpečnostní
oblasti, v mezinárodní a diplo-
matické oblasti). Pojítkem mezi
touto skupinou vyznamenání
a Řádem svobody Slovinské
republiky je Řád Za mimořádné
služby, považovaný za druhé
nejvyšší slovinské vyznamenání.
Řád svobody Slovinské
republiky (Častni znak svobode
Republike Slovenije) je udělován
v jediné skupině jak domácím
občanům, tak cizím státním
příslušníkům ve třech třídách.
The Republic of Slovenia is among the youngest states of the European Union, because until its declaration
of independence at the beginning of the 1990s, its area was part of other states. The country’s honours
therefore were started only several years ago and are not connected with any events in its national history.
The fi rst Slovenian honour, the Order of Freedom of the Republic of Slovenia, was started in 1992 and to
this day remains the highest state decoration. The entire system of decorations of merit was created in
2004. It is made up of the Golden Order for Services (in the civil fi eld, in the military or security fi eld, in
the diplomatic and international fi eld), the Medal for Services (in the civil fi eld, in military and security
fi elds, in the international and diplomatic fi elds), the Medal for Valour (in the civil fi eld, in the military and
security fi eld, in the international and diplomatic fi eld), and the Medal for Honourable Action (in the civil
fi eld, in the military and security fi eld, in the international and diplomatic fi eld). The link between these
group honours and the Order of Freedom of the Republic of Slovenia is the Order for Exceptional Services,
which is considered the second-highest Slovenian honour.
The Order of Freedom of the Republic of Slovenia (Častni znak svobode Republike Slovenije) is
conferred in a single group to both domestic citizens as well as foreigners in three classes.

Řád zlatého rouna) a celou škálu státních
a medaile, přičemž velkokříž řádu bývá hlavám států
udělován zpravidla s řetězem jako zvláštní formou
dekorace.
Spain is the European country with the oldest
faleristic tradition, one reaching back to the mid-12th
century. At the time of the so-called reconquista,
several knights’ orders arose (the Military Order
of Alcantara, the Military Order of Calatrava) on
the Iberian peninsula, which by the end of the 15th
century were incorporated among Spanish orders and
served as models for several European meritorious
decorations. Modern Spanish orders originated
in the 2nd half of the 18th century (the Royal and
Distinguished Order of Charles III) or at the beginning
of the 19th century (the Royal and Military Order
of St. Ferdinand, the Royal and Military Order of
St. Hermenegildo, the Royal Order of Isabella the
Catholic) and were complemented throughout the
century (the Order of Military Merit, the Civil Order of
Maria Victoria, the Civil Order of Mercy, the Order of
Alfonso XII). Most of these decorations were cancelled
in 1931 during the declaration of the republic, which
created its own decorations of merit in less than
a decade. After the end of the Spanish Civil War,
several order decorations from the monarchy were
gradually renewed in the form of orders of merit,
whereas the defi nite renewal of its original faleristic
tradition came in the mid-1970s with the accession
of the king. Today’s Spain has a system at its disposal
which contains original knightly orders, several
dynastic orders (such as the Order of the Golden
Fleece) and an entire range of state honours for civil
and military merit.
The Royal Order of Isabella the Catholic (Orden de
Isabel la Católica) is the highest Spanish civil honour,
which is bestowed both on its own citizens as well
as on foreigners. It is made up of fi ve order classes,
crosses and medals, whereas the Grand Cross of the
Order as a rule tends to be bestowed upon heads of
state with a chain as a special form of decoration.
