lugu hər bir xalqın milli- mənəvi dəyərlərinin frazeologizmlərdəəks olunması ilə əlaqədardır.
Frazeologizmlərinyaratdıqları linqvistik obrazlar yalnız ifadə etdikləri denotativ mənaları ilə
aşkarlanmır. Onların dərki koqnitiv aspektlərlə də baglı olur. Dildə mürəkkəb bir sistem təşkil
edən frazeologizmlərin hərtərəfli tədqiqi zamanı onların milli – mədəni konnotasiyası,
koqnitiv aspektləri xüsusi əhəmiyyət kəsb edir.
Yaxın semantika ifadə edən frazeoloji vahidlər müxtəlif dillərin materiallarında bir –
birinə ekvivalent və ya qismən ekvivalent olur. Bu daha çox somatik frazeologizmlərin insan
bədəninin müəyyən orqanının funksiyaları və ya simvolik mahiyyətinin uyğunluğundan bəh-
rələnir. Digər tərəfdən hər bir xalqın dilində müəyyən sayda somatik frazeologizmlər vardır
ki, onlar ekstralinqvistik ( qeyri - dil mühiti, adət - ənənələr, cəmiyyətin sosial quruluşu, dil və
mədəniyyət xüsusiyyətləri, dil əlaqələri , dildə danışanların məskunlaşma xüsusiyyətləri və s.
) amillərlə şətrtlənir.Insan bədən üzvlərinin mərkəzi komponenti funksiyasında çıxış etdiyi fra
zeologizmlərin hər birini müxtəlif semantik yarımqruplara ayırmaq mümkündür.Ingilis dilində
tərkibində “ hand “ ( əl ) sözü olan frazeologizmlərin tematik qrupları olduqca çoxdur. Məsələn:
a bad hand at smth. – bacarıqsız olmaq;extend a hand of friendship – dostluq ( kömək ) əlini
uzatmaq və s.
Komparativ frazeologizmlər dildə müqayisə məqsədilə işlədilir. Ingilis dilində kompa-
rativ frazeologizmlərin yaranmasında “ as.....as” və “ like....as ” modeli, (as hungry as a wolf
)Azərbaycan dilində isə istifadə olunan vasitə “ kimi ” ( yağ içində böyrək kimi) sözüdür.
Belə frazeologizmlər ümumi səciyyə daşıyıb hamı tərəfindən işlənirsə, nitqə məxsus bənzər
ifadələr fərdi səciyyə daşıyır. Komparativ frazeologizmlər semantik məzmuna, alliterasiyadan
istifadəyə, başqa dilin vahidləri ilə uyğunluğa görə fərqlənir.
Beləvahidlər şəxsin və ya predmetin səciyyəvi xüsusiyyətlərini üzə çıxarmaq məqamın-
da istifadə olunur və qiymətləndirmə xarakteri daşıyan vahidlər sisteminə daxil olur.Bir çox
dünya dillərində, o cümlədən də ingilis və Azərbaycan dillərində tam ekvivalent olan frazeo-
loji vahidlərdə eyni siqnifikativ – denotativ məna, eyni subyektiv qiymətləndirmə, eyni funk-
sional üslubi və emosional – ekspressiv konnotasiya, eyni qrammatik struktur və eyni kom-
ponent müşahidə olunur. Məsələn: play with fire – odla oynamaq; to be with one’s foot in the
grave – bir ayağı gorda olmaq və s. Hər iki dildə frazeoloji vahidlərin məna və ifadə forması
eynilik təşkil edir. Qismən ekvivalentlik zamanı görünmək semantik eynilikdə, komponent
tərkibində müəyyən fərqlər üzə çıxır. Məsələn: to have one’s eye on something / someone –
nədənsə / kimdənsə gözünü çəkməməkvə s. Tam vəqismən ekvivalentliyi olmayan frazeoloji
birləşmələrin əksəriyyəti milli adət - ənənə, həyat və məişət tərzi ilə bağlı yaranan vahidlərdir.
Məsələn: Dr. Cekyll and Mr. Hyde. Ingilis dilində bu birləşmə bir – birinindiametral əksi olan
adamlar haqqında işlədilir. Yaxud Azərbaycan dilində həm müsbət, həm də mənfi mənada işlə-
nən “ qoca qurd”ilə ingilis dilində işlənmə məqamı fərqli olan, yəni yalnız mənfi mənada istifa-
də olunan“ old cat”(qoca pişik) frazeoloji birləşməsini qeyd etmək olar. Ekvivalentliyin olma-
ması semantik sürüşmə ilə də izah oluna bilər. Belə frazeoloji vahidlər çox zaman izah olunur.

Every language has its own characteristics. Also, there are different types of cultures in
the world, so each country has its own language. Language contains words, phrases and idioms

language. We should have information about culture. Then we should learn the phrases and
idioms and meaning of these idioms in this language.
English is a language which contains a lot of words and idioms. Idioms are phrases that
have figurative meaning. This meaning is not as the same as literal meaning. Therefore we
can not translate them, but we can find the similar phrase in our language. It is also possible
that there is not the similar phrase in our language. As a result, we had better find the
definition of these idioms. Also, we should memorize them.
Learning idioms is the best way to speak in any language as a native speaker. It helps us
speak naturally what we think, and how we feel about something. Idioms have several types.
For example, body idioms, animal idioms, color idioms, clothing idioms, food idioms, geography
and weather idioms and sport idioms.
Body idioms are phrases that contain words from the names of body parts. But there is
no relationship between them.
Here are some examples of idioms:
Not breathe a word (about someone or something) – not to tell someone about
something.
As dry as a bone-extremely dry.
Blood runs cold-afraid of something.
Blood, sweat, and tears-work very hard on something
Belly up-to lose all money.
Copy cat- to do the same thing which someone does.
Cat nap- very short sleep.
Cat’s got one’s tongue-if someone does not speak because of shyness.
Holy cow-used when you feel amazement about something.
Kill two birds with one stone-to accomplish two targets at the same time.
Idioms have an important role in speaking and understanding native speakers, songs,
and movies. They improve communication skills, and help us speak fluently. There are two
types of learning way of language; textbooks and natural language. Textbook helps us learning
exact grammar and writing skills, but native language helps us speak clearly as a native
speaker and understand them. When we realize the impact of idioms?
When we speak in any language , we use the words, but words are not enough to
express feeling. Also, sometimes words cannot make the speech interesting and natural.
Therefore we need to use idioms. Some idioms are simple, transparent, and related to their
literal meaning, so learners can understand and memorize them. However, there are a lot of
idioms that come from the past, and they do not have any relationship with their literal
meaning. For example, ”to hold one’s horses”-means to stop and waiting patiently. Before
,when people stopped their horses and began to wait, they used this idiom, but now the horses
are not used as before. As a result, if we translate them word by word, we will not understand
the meaning which is used in any situation. But some idioms can be easy to understand,
because they are almost similar to their literal meaning. For instance, " cat nap”-means short
sleep, cat’s nap is too short, so we can guess the meaning of this idiom.
Native speakers use idioms in their speech all the time. Knowledge of idioms helps
speak very well. Also, idioms are main parts of vocabulary. If someone learns the idioms , he
will be motivated to speak and use these idioms.
Learners should be realized that idioms have an impact on language and communication
skills. Also, they help us understanding the native speaker. In addition, they affect to learn
features of foreign language and cultures of different countries .
Also whoever uses the idioms, should be familiar with their using style. They can memorize
idioms, but that may not be enough for using them in which situation they use that idiom.
